Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: What makes Yummy Combs® different from other dental treats for dogs?

The Yummy Combs® treat’s honeycomb-like shape makes it different from any other doggie dental and nutritional snack. It is designed to floss dogs’ teeth and gently massage gums. Its width prevents dogs from gulping it down in one bite and encourages them to chew longer. The treat completely surrounds your dog’s teeth for a deeper, more complete clean. Yummy Combs® are also packed with nutrition and wellness ingredients.

  • Q: Are Yummy Combs® safe to feed?

Yummy Combs® are specifically designed to be safe for dogs. They are conceived and formulated by pet lovers based on science, technology, engineering and math. The innovative honeycomb shape requires dogs to chew it rather than gulp the treat down whole because the hexagonal shape is designed to be wider than the oropharynx of the dog’s throat (the non-stretching gateway to the stomach). Check the package or our website to determine the correct size for your dog.

  • Q: How often can I give my dog a Yummy Combs treat?

Yummy Combs® can be given as often as once or twice a day.

  • Q: Can Yummy Combs® be fed to dogs with food allergies/sensitivities?

Ingredients in Yummy Combs® are predominantly natural and we purposely do not add ingredients starting as grain or gluten. They can be fed to dogs with a range of dietary considerations. Talk to your veterinarian about whether Yummy Combs® are an appropriate addition to your dog’s diet. As with people, a low percentage of dogs have allergies to certain ingredients.

  • Q: Are Yummy Combs® easy for dogs to digest?

Yes. Because of the honeycomb design, Yummy Combs® have an increased surface-area-to-volume ratio, which improves solubility and preserves nutrients during baking.

  • Q: How do you know dogs love the taste of Yummy Combs®?

Yummy Combs® are formulated to taste great by a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, PhD agriculturalist and biochemist. Independent testing shows Yummy Combs® are at least as palatable as most competitive treats. Our own dogs do amazing things for a Yummy Combs® treat.

  • Q: Why is massaging the gums and cleaning the teeth so important to pet health?

Without proper teeth cleaning, flossing and gum massaging, gingivitis and periodontal disease can set in. Bleeding gums allow bacteria and toxins to access the circulatory system easily where they race to damage vital organs, and in some cases result in death. Autopsies very seldom state that the dog died from periodontal disease, but merely state that the dog died from failure of a vital organ. However, the the damage to the vital organ is often a result of periodontal disease.

  • Q: How much protein do dogs need?

Canine nutritionists recommend 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight for dogs that are considered a healthy weight for their size and breed.

  • Q: Where did the ingenious honeycomb design come from?

Dr. Roetheli began with a list of goals for the product; floss teeth, massage gums, deter gulping, accelerate solubility, speed digestion and preserve volatile ingredients. The hexagon—or honeycomb—was the best shape to ingeniously combine each of the design goals into one product.

  • Q: Where did the Pet’s Best Life company name come from?

Our company strives to develop, market, distribute and sell pet treats that are designed and formulated for your pet’s best life, so the name of the company is its mission.

  • Q: What is the link between Yummy Combs® and Jim the Wonder Dog?

Jim the Wonder Dog was likely the most talented, ingenious dog ever. He was so gifted that selected the winner of the Kentucky Derby seven times. Owners of a horse race track threatened to kill Jim if his owner did not get him out of town immediately as he was picking winners of races almost without error. He could identify cars from different states and different varieties of trees upon command. He was named Hunting Dog of the Country by Outdoor Life magazine. Jim was ingenious. And Yummy Combs® are ingenious in many ways, also!
